A teenage girl has been dead while surfing in Western Australia.
The teenager’s mother and two siblings were also at the scene near Esperance.
It is a fatal shark attack in Western Australia in a year. In 2014, a similar
incident also occurred in Western Australia where surfer lost his arms in a
shark attack.
Professional fisherman, Neville Mansted, said he would not
surf this place anymore he told the West Australian newspaper. The
beach will be closed for at least 48 hours during authorities
investigate. “Ever since 2000, enormous fatal white sharks attacks being
occurred but it cannot utterly be said it was a great white shark”AFP agency
quoted spokesperson Russell Adams.
In 2014 Western Australia trailed a shark cull on seven beaches
using baited traps, but it did not prove yet and stopped by the
state’s environmental regulator. Till now 170 sharks had been
caught but none of them were whites ones. Recently new sharks
nets have been installed at some beaches in the state.
Laetitia’ family was shocked and devastated. Family
spokesman Steve Evans said that Laetitia will be missed by everyone
especially friend and family. Esperance police’s Acting Senior Sergeant
Ben Jeffes confirmed that victims’ father did everything to save
her daughter but sadly could not able to save her.
